Sharing our learning with our buddy class

Today we spent more time getting to know our buddies. We drew, created and shared our ideas. Our key focus was using kind words and being a good role model.

Types of angles

In Maths we are inquirying into the flags of countries participating in the Olympics. It is very interesting. Some of the questions are around angles.

Here are a couple of clips to help us understand how angles work and are used and measured.

Meeting our Buddy Class.

Today was awesome! We meet our buddy class today. It was fantastic. Our buddy class is Room 21. They are brand new Ilam School Students. We are excited to be their role models.
We really enjoyed supporting them with making their cupcakes. They sold them at lunchtime and the proceeds go to the SPCA.

Taking charge

In the Weekends me, my dad and my brother made a path.  It was hard work but looked good in the end.

How to make a path

1. Draw where you want your path to go.

2. Dig out the area your path is going to be in to about 17 centermetres.

3. Fill the area with sand.

4. Get some paving stones or just flat stones and move them around in the sand, this should make them not so wobbley

5. Brush some sand over the stones with a broom

6. Plant some flowers round the edge of the path. (optional)

For the rest of the day the students participated in a number of activities. A couple of clear favourites were the fritters and Ki o Rahi.

Matariki Celebrations

Some of the students are leading their learning by becoming teachers! They have planned a Matariki Celebration Day and decided activities and stories they will read. It is wonderful to see such leading of their learning.
So far we have had waiata, a whakatauki, story telling and weaving. All this...before morning tea! Awesome.
